In Congolese markets, women entrepreneurs play a vital role in the country’s economic growth. The Congolese government, supported by UN-Women, is implementing initiatives to strengthen the capacities of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), particularly those led by women. Congolese civil society organizations, such as the Cadre de Concertation de la Femme Congolaise and the Association des Femmes Entrepreneurs du Congo, have benefited from funding to raise awareness and strengthen the skills of market sellers. These initiatives aim to promote economic growth, gender equality and environmental sustainability. Despite the obstacles encountered, such as the lack of efficiency of the “one-stop shop” for obtaining legal documents, Congolese women entrepreneurs express their gratitude for the support received and emphasize the continued importance of such initiatives for the development of their Commercial activities. By also mobilizing traditional authorities, the project contributes to the empowerment of women and the fight against social stereotypes in the economic sector. In conclusion, supporting women entrepreneurs in Congolese markets is essential for economic growth through job creation, poverty reduction and gender equality. Thanks to these initiatives, sellers in Congolese markets are better prepared to face the challenges of formal trade and prosper in their economic activities.
