The United States called on Rwanda to end its support for M23 and underscored the importance of the Luanda and Nairobi processes in resolving the conflict. The secretary also recalled the importance of non-violence and free and fair elections in the country. Despite continuing challenges, the Congolese opposition is increasingly active and President Tshisekedi recently discussed a fairer distribution of benefits from a contract with China. Ultimately, it is crucial that Congolese leaders work together to find a lasting solution to the violence and instability plaguing the country.
