DRC: The seminar for new auditors in public establishments inaugurates at the IGF

On December 6, 2023, the General Inspectorate of Finance (IGF) in Kinshasa hosted the official launch of the training seminar for new auditors in public establishments. Organized by the National Order of Chartered Accountants (ONEC), this event aims to strengthen governance within public establishments in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The opening speech was delivered by Jules Alingete Key, Inspector General of Finance and Head of Department, who underlined the importance of the appointment of the 144 auditors and its link with the will of the Head of State and the Prime Minister. He also underlined the essential role of auditors in promoting good governance within public establishments.

The President of ONEC, Jean-Jacques Pfingu, congratulated the new auditors on their appointment and recalled the importance of their professional behavior to improve the governance of public establishments. He also highlighted the use of the Table for the designation procedure, recommending its use in the future.

The seminar, which will take place over three days, will include training on subjects such as the legal and ethical framework of the Audit Office in public establishments, planning the mission of auditors and drafting reports.

The presence of the Prime Minister’s representative during the inauguration of the seminar demonstrates the importance given to the training of auditors and the government’s commitment to strengthened governance within public establishments.

It should be noted that the appointment of the new auditors follows a call from Head of State Félix Tshisekedi to improve the management of public establishments, thus underlining the importance of their role in this process. This training therefore aims to strengthen the skills of auditors and provide them with the necessary tools to carry out their duties with professionalism and rigor.

In conclusion, the seminar for new auditors in public establishments at the IGF marks an important step in strengthening governance in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The training of auditors will help improve the transparency and efficiency of the management of public establishments, thus contributing to the economic and social development of the country.
