Training workshop in agriculture for young people in the DRC
As part of the Agenda for Agricultural Transformation of the Democratic Republic of Congo (ATA-DRC) project, fifteen young people from the agricultural brigade recently benefited from a training and strategic orientation workshop in various agricultural fields. Organized by the African Institute of Agricultural Leadership (AALI), this event took place on the land of adaptation of the agro-industrial park of Karhongo-Nyangezi, in the territory of Walungu in South Kivu.
During this workshop, the young people were able to familiarize themselves with various agricultural techniques and technologies, ranging from agricultural education to modernized crop production, including animal production, fish farming, value addition and small-scale agricultural mechanization. The objective was to train and equip them so that they could then disseminate this knowledge in their respective areas of intervention.
The workshop also highlighted the use of technology in agricultural and crop production. The young people were thus able to discover the advantages and possibilities offered by new technologies in the agricultural field, in order to optimize their production and improve their yield.
Dr. Emmanuel Sanginga Nteranya, who praised the efforts of President Félix Tshisekedi in favor of agriculture, stressed that political will and the involvement of young people were essential for a real agricultural transformation of the country. Indeed, agriculture plays a crucial role in the economic and social development of the DRC, by contributing to the increase in production, the creation of jobs and the reduction of food insecurity.
This type of training workshops is therefore an important step in achieving the objective of ATA-DRC, which aims to accelerate the agricultural transformation of the country by strengthening the capacities of young farmers and promoting the adoption of new agricultural practices. Thanks to these initiatives, the DRC will thus be able to develop its agricultural sector, increase its productivity and contribute to the creation of sustainable food security for its population
