The African Football League concludes its first edition with a victory for the South Africans of Mamelodi Sundowns against the Moroccans of Wydad Athletic Club of Casablanca. This competition, which lasted 22 days, brought together the best teams from the African continent in a passionate atmosphere.
The final, which took place on November 12, 2023, was marked by the domination of the South Africans. From the start of the match, they created several promising chances, but failed to materialize. It was finally in the last minutes of the first half that Peter Shalulile of Mamelodi Sundowns opened the scoring, giving his team the advantage.
In the second half, the South Africans maintained their domination and added a second goal thanks to Audrey Modiba. Despite the Moroccans’ efforts to get back into the match, the final score remained 2-0 in favor of Sundowns. This victory adds to their success in the first leg, bringing the cumulative score to 3-2 in their favor and allowing them to win the first edition of the African Football League.
