Violent murder in Tshikapa: A cigarette seller killed in his home, the climate of insecurity is growing in Kasai

Prince Tshibola, a cigarette seller, was violently murdered on the night of Monday to Tuesday July 11. This villainous act took place in his residence located in the commune of Mabondo, Kasaï 2 district, in Tshikapa, capital of the province of Kasaï, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The circumstances of this crime are still unclear, but several sources have indicated that armed men entered Prince Tshibola’s home to commit their murderous act. Unfortunately, the identity of the perpetrators has not yet been established.

This news quickly made the rounds of the city, causing great tension among the population. Violent clashes erupted between residents and police forces dispatched to the scene of the tragedy.

In the midst of this confusion, the victim’s son recognized one of the police officers present as being among those responsible for his father’s death. The man in uniform then fled, further exacerbating the discontent of the population.

In a climate of anger and frustration, residents clashed with the police, throwing stones to repel them. In response, law enforcement used live ammunition, firing into the air to disperse the crowd.

It took several hours for calm to return to the city. Nevertheless, an atmosphere of insecurity persists in this part of Tshikapa, leading to the paralysis of economic activities and a decrease in traffic.

Local authorities quickly took up the matter and promised to carry out a thorough investigation to find the culprits of this tragedy. The provincial Minister of the Interior, who is acting as governor, stressed that he could not make a statement on the identity of the assassins until the investigations had been completed.

This shocking murder highlights the continuing security challenges in parts of the Democratic Republic of Congo. It also stresses the importance of strengthening the protection of citizens and fighting impunity to guarantee peace and justice for all.
