However, despite these tensions, the Professional Football League (LFP) decided not to sanction OM and to reschedule the match for December 6.
These incidents sparked strong reactions from players, clubs and supporters. Lyon coach Fabio Grosso was hit in the head by a projectile thrown by a Marseille supporter, which caused great emotion in the world of football. The decision regarding these incidents is expected on November 22, which once again illustrates the seriousness of the events which marred this match.
It is important to emphasize that these acts of violence and racism are completely unacceptable in football. This match should have been an opportunity to celebrate the sport and the passion it inspires, but unfortunately it turned into a sad spectacle of violence and hatred.
Let’s hope that this new clash between OM and OL will take place in a healthier spirit, with mutual respect for players, supporters and clubs. Football is above all a game that must be played in a climate of fair play and camaraderie. It is necessary to firmly condemn this violent behavior and to work together to rediscover the sporting spirit that makes this sport so beautiful.
