Martin Fayulu reassures the Congolese people and does not leave the electoral process

In a press conference held on Wednesday July 12, the Congolese opponent Martin Fayulu wanted to reassure the Congolese people by affirming that he would not leave the ongoing electoral process. While demanding the audit of the electoral register by an independent firm before submitting the candidacies of his political family, Fayulu stressed that it was important to mobilize the people to demand fair and transparent elections.

“The people know that they supported me in 2018 and they know that I will not abandon the electoral process. I tell my people that we must not participate in the elections just for fun. Our objective must be to demand elections that guarantee the truth of the ballot boxes,” said Martin Fayulu during the press conference.

He also clarified that there was no boycott on his part, contrary to some misinterpretations of his previous statements. Fayulu explained that his request for an audit of the electoral register by an independent firm was essential to ensure the transparency of the electoral process.

In addition, the deadline for submitting candidacies for the national legislative elections is approaching, set for Saturday 15 July. The president of the electoral commission, Denis Kadima, warned potential candidates who are late in submitting their file that there will be no extension for latecomers.

In a tense political context, where the population’s expectations are high in terms of transparency and electoral justice, Martin Fayulu’s decision to remain engaged in the electoral process aims to maintain citizen mobilization and guarantee free and fair elections.
