“Security in football: OL’s Fabio Grosso sounds the alarm and calls for urgent measures”

OL coach Fabio Grosso has finally broken the silence, expressing his concerns about security at football matches. At a press conference in Lyon, Grosso said it was time to make important decisions to guarantee everyone’s safety.

On October 29, the OL bus was attacked in Marseille, leading to serious injuries for Grosso himself. His face still marked by the after-effects of this attack, Grosso recalled the importance of reacting quickly to such incidents. “We should not wait for something more serious to make important decisions,” he said.

The Italian coach stressed that this unacceptable event cannot be ignored. He insisted on the need to ensure the safety of all football stakeholders. “I want safety for everyone. We cannot put people’s lives at risk for sport,” he stressed.

In addition to this violent episode, Grosso also condemned the racist behavior of certain Lyon supporters during the match at the Vélodrome. Nazi salutes and monkey cries were heard, behavior that he considers “not nice” and which must under no circumstances be repeated.

The match between OM and OL, which was canceled due to these incidents, has been rescheduled for December 6. The LFP’s decision as to the location of the meeting is still to come.

For Grosso, it is now time to focus on OL’s next match against Metz. As the bottom team in Ligue 1, a win is absolutely necessary for the club. Despite the physical after-effects, Grosso said he was determined to bring good sporting performances to his team.

Recent attacks and inappropriate behavior on football pitches highlight the importance of ensuring the safety of players, coaches and fans. It is time for the governing bodies to act and take strict measures to prevent such incidents in the future. Football players and staff deserve to work in a safe and respectful environment.
