“Major crisis in the Provincial Assembly of Kasaï Oriental: the deputies withdraw their confidence in President Kabongo”

The Provincial Assembly of Kasaï Oriental is shaken by a major crisis. Indeed, a dozen provincial deputies have published a letter in which they withdraw their confidence in President Anthanase Kabongo Malembongo. They accuse him of notorious incompetence in the exercise of his functions and denounce several dysfunctions within the administration of the Assembly.

According to the deputies who signed the letter, the President notably recruited staff in violation of the texts in force. In addition, he is accused of having embezzled and improperly affected the emoluments of provincial deputies as well as the funds allocated to the staff of the Assembly. The signatories also deplore Kabongo’s lack of transparency in the management of the affairs of the Assembly and his lack of consideration towards the deputies.

Faced with this situation, the deputies demand several measures. In particular, they want to see President Kabongo removed from the office of the Provincial Assembly and replaced by a competent person. In addition, they demand the establishment of a commission responsible for noting the serious faults committed by the President and drawing the necessary conclusions. Finally, they ask for the convening of an extraordinary session to examine matters not completed during the previous session.

This crisis within the Kasai Oriental Provincial Assembly highlights the tensions and dissensions that can arise within political institutions. It also stresses the importance of good governance and transparency in the management of public affairs. It now remains to be seen how this crisis will be resolved and what the repercussions will be on the governance of the province
