The news is constantly changing and readers crave fresh and relevant information. As a copywriter who specializes in writing blog posts, staying up to date on current topics of interest is essential. In this article, we are going to talk about a recent event that caused a lot of excitement in the world of scrabble: the 2023 K. Fokam International Tournament held in Kribi, Cameroon.

Organized by the Ligue Professionnelle de Scrabble Francophone, this event attracted players from eight African countries, including Cameroon, Benin, Ivory Coast, Niger, DRC, Chad, Gabon and Togo. Forty-nine athletes competed during the group stages, to retain only the best of them for the final stages.

It was the Congolese player Ngumba Ibn who won the tournament, thus becoming African champion of this prestigious competition. His victory was greeted by his pride in representing his country and raising the colors of the DRC. He even shared the difficulties he encountered to participate in the tournament, in particular the long journey by bus from Brazzaville to Kribi, for lack of financial means to take the plane.

This tournament, which bears the name “K Fokam Millionaires Tournament”, was created by Daniel Essomba, a passionate scrabble player and member of the STC Club of Yaoundé. Its objective was to take Scrabble out of its precariousness and allow players to live fully from their art. The tournament was therefore sponsored by Dr. Paul Kammogne Fokam, known as one of the main patrons of scrabble in Cameroon.

Daniel Essomba’s initiative was initially met with skepticism, but thanks to his determination and hard work, the K Fokam Millionaires Tournament became a reality. It marks a turning point for Scrabble in Africa and lays the foundations for the professionalization of the game worldwide.

This international scrabble tournament not only brought together the best African players, but it also served to highlight the importance of scrabble as a sport of the mind. He shows that even in difficult conditions, love for his country and passion for the game can lead to exceptional victories.

In conclusion, the K. Fokam 2023 international tournament was a real success, showcasing the talent and commitment of African scrabble players. This event is a testament to the vitality of scrabble as a sport and the importance of supporting and promoting these competitions. Congratulations to Ngumba Ibn and all the participants for their outstanding performance during this memorable tournament
