It is undeniable that the eradication of juvenile delinquency and urban insecurity is a major issue in many large cities around the world. The provincial city of Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, is unfortunately no exception to this problem. However, the Congolese government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde, is determined to put an end to this scourge.
During the 103rd meeting of the Council of Ministers, the Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s will to fight against juvenile delinquency and urban insecurity. Concrete steps have already been taken and further waves of arrests are planned until this problem is eradicated.
The Deputy Prime Minister in charge of the Interior, Security and Customary Affairs, Peter Kazadi, explained during an intervention that the strategy was first to act in silence in order to track down criminals without to alert. In collaboration with the population, which plays an essential role by providing information and denunciations, the police have mobilized to arrest the bandits.
The authorities are also considering taking other measures to strengthen security. For example, it is planned to introduce a system to identify the drivers of each vehicle by displaying their photos, in order to facilitate their identification and reduce the risk of fraud.
With regard to the fight against urban banditry known as “Kuluna”, the government is emphasizing the awareness of young delinquents in order to bring them to their senses. Associations are involved in this process, seeking to make these young people aware of the consequences of their actions and to dissuade them from continuing on this path.
It is important to emphasize that the resurgence of insecurity in Kinshasa comes at a crucial time, a few months before the general elections and during the organization of the Games of La Francophonie. Faced with this situation, the authorities have taken firm measures to track down the criminals and ensure the safety of the population.
In this fight against juvenile delinquency and urban insecurity, collaboration between law enforcement and the population is essential. It is therefore essential that citizens continue to denounce criminal acts and support the government’s efforts in the quest for a safer and more peaceful city.
In conclusion, juvenile delinquency and urban insecurity are complex and persistent problems in many cities, including Kinshasa. However, the Congolese government is determined to eradicate this scourge, by implementing concrete measures and mobilizing the population in this fight
