DRC: Soon electricity in Walikale thanks to the Nduma kasha project
The province of North Kivu will soon see a considerable advance in its public lighting. Indeed, by May 15, an electrification project called “Nduma kasha” will be implemented in the territory of Walikale, announced the notable of the territory and honorary Minister of Hydrocarbons Rubens Mikendo.
This project will electrify, according to the words of Rubens Mikendo, about 250 households who will be served with electric current with a capacity of 45 Kilowatts. This project will also provide public lighting to certain areas of Walikale.
In this regard, “Electricity will be available 24 hours a day and distributed in “Cash power” mode in Walikale-center thanks to a voltaic power station set up by the company Go-Shop and Anser”, he explains.
It is even a private company which will take charge of the entire project, said project whose cost amounts to 500,000 US dollars, and which will make its contribution to the development of the territory of Walikale given that this territory has never known the existence of electric current since its creation.
In addition, the notable of Walikale thanked the Congolese government for having subsidized this project of community interest, with an amount of 100,000 US dollars.
Walikale is a locality located on the banks of the Lowa River and served by the RN3 national road. At 236 kilometers from the city of Goma, this area would have more than 621,000 inhabitants.
This initiative contrasts with the situation in other parts of the country, where the lack of electricity is glaring, preventing the socio-economic development of these regions.
