Candidacy of Marie Josée IFOKU for the presidential election in the DRC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) registers a new candidacy for the presidential election in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). This is the candidacy of Marie Josée IFOKU, president of the Alliance of Elites for a New Congo (AENC).

When submitting her application to the Application Reception and Processing Office (BRTC), Marie Josée IFOKU was received by the president of the CENI, Denis KADIMA KAZADI. During their meeting, they discussed the electoral process in view of the polls scheduled for December 20, 2023.

Marie Josée IFOKU took the opportunity to present her political vision based on the concept of “kombolization”. This concept, which she developed in 2018, aims to cleanse the DRC of anti-values and bad practices. According to her, breaking with the system of predation and promoting kombolization are essential for the rebirth of the DRC.

The candidate stressed the importance of choosing a vision rather than a person because of their gender, highlighting her vision of kombolization as an alternative to break with the system of predation that has prevailed since the country’s independence.

Marie Josée IFOKU also expressed her confidence in the president of the CENI, Denis KADIMA KAZADI, by symbolically offering her support and hoping that the elections will take place in a transparent and legitimate manner.

This female candidacy for the presidential election is attracting attention as a sign of the evolution of women’s participation in political life in the DRC. The country, which has experienced democratic challenges in the past, hopes to strengthen its democracy by allowing greater representation of women in positions of power.

The candidacy of Marie Josée IFOKU therefore enriches the Congolese political landscape and arouses the interest of observers in view of the elections of December 2023.
