The Games of La Francophonie, which will be held in Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo, are making waves. As the event is fast approaching, some countries have decided to withdraw, which has aroused the surprise and astonishment of the director of the national committee, Isidore Kwandja.
According to him, all the concerns raised by these countries, particularly with regard to security, health and infrastructure, have been taken into account by the Congolese government. Indeed, delegations were received and guarantees were provided to respond to the requests and concerns of potential participants, such as Canada, Wallonia, France, Switzerland and New Brunswick.
Despite these assurances, some States have nevertheless decided to withdraw their participation. However, many other French-speaking countries and territories have confirmed their presence at the Jeux de la Francophonie, thus demonstrating their commitment to this major sporting and cultural event.
Isidore Kwandja recalls that each State is sovereign in its decision to participate or not, and he takes note of these withdrawals. However, he remains optimistic about the holding of the Games and underlines the confirmation of participation from New Brunswick, Canada, Switzerland and other states.
The ninth edition of the Francophonie Games will take place from July 28 to August 6 in Kinshasa. This event will allow Francophone athletes and artists to meet, compete and celebrate the diversity of the Francophonie through sport, culture and solidarity.
Despite the withdrawals, the Games of La Francophonie remain an important event for the promotion of La Francophonie and exchange between member countries. Kinshasa is preparing to host this event with enthusiasm and hopes to provide an unforgettable experience for all participants and spectators present.
