Félix Tshisekedi is the current President of the Democratic Republic of Congo and since his accession to power, he has expressed his willingness to become personally involved in the resolution of security problems in the east of the country, in particular in Goma.
In his speech to the population of the east, Tshisekedi had promised to settle in Goma to be close to the realities and the sufferings of the population. However, in a recent interview, he explained that he was able to follow the fighting in real time using technology from his headquarters in Kinshasa. He therefore realized that as Supreme Commander of the DRC armed forces, he did not need to physically reside in Goma to make decisions and act.
This does not mean, however, that Tshisekedi is abandoning his commitment to the people of the east. He reaffirmed his determination to work to bring peace and security to the region, but with a more pragmatic approach. It highlights the use of technology and the means of communication to remain in constant contact with the realities on the ground, while continuing to take concrete measures to improve the situation.
This decision by Tshisekedi arouses mixed reactions. Some hail his ability to adapt to new technologies and use the tools at his disposal to act effectively, while others regret that he does not keep his promise to settle in Goma. Either way, it is clear that security in the east of the country remains a major concern for the Congolese President, and he will continue to work to address it, even if he does so from a distance.
In conclusion, even if Félix Tshisekedi will not physically settle in Goma as he had promised, he remains committed to resolving security problems in eastern DRC. His decision to use technology and the means of communication to stay informed and make decisions shows his willingness to adapt his methods according to reality
