“Judokas from the DRC, Congo Brazzaville and Angola are successfully preparing for the Francophone Games in Kinshasa”

Judokas from the DRC, Congo Brazzaville and Angola recently took part in test events in preparation for the IX Francophonie Games to be held in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, from July 28 to August 6, 2023. These tests took place on Friday July 7 and allowed the athletes to train and prepare for this major event.

During this day, more than fifty fights took place, in different weight categories, ranging from -100kg to +100kg, from -90kg to -60kg. Participants were able to evaluate their performance and compete against each other in these test events which were organized to test all the functions and services of the various game sites.

Congolese judokas expressed their satisfaction with the infrastructure put in place for this event. Bénie Matonta, gold medalist in the under 66 kg category during the test events, praised the construction of these sports facilities and expressed her gratitude to the Congolese government. She stressed that these quality facilities add value to the practice of judo in the DRC.

This test experience also allowed the judokas to familiarize themselves with the organization and running of the Francophonie games. They are now convinced that these games will be successfully held in their country and are enthusiastic about the idea of ​​representing the DRC at this major event.

The test events were an opportunity for the athletes to prepare and get in shape for the Francophonie Games. They were also an opportunity for the organizers to check that all facilities and services were working properly before the official start of the games.
