In the aftermath of the tragic incidents which took place in Kilobelobe, in the annex town of the DRC, opposing young people from the UDPS and UNAFEC and which resulted in the loss of two lives, the police appealed to the population to collaborate in the identification and dismantling of these networks which sow trouble in the region.
In a video broadcast by Major Charles Esperanto Bin Lwamba, spokesperson for the Haut-Katanga police, the police station asks the population to remain calm and to cooperate with the security forces to put an end to the abuses perpetrated by these people. Mention is made in particular of the collection of illegal taxes, harassment and other reprehensible acts.
At the same time, investigations are underway to determine the responsibilities in this violence. The provincial police station of the Congolese national police in Haut-Katanga affirms that all those involved, directly or indirectly, in these tragic events will be prosecuted.
This situation highlights the problem of youth activism in political parties, in particular UDPS and UNAFEC, which generates insecurity and disrupts public order. In this election year, the police also call on the leaders of these parties to sensitize their members to respect for the law and the culture of peace.
It is essential that the political parties, by supporting President Félix Tshisekedi within the Sacred Union of the Nation, ensure that their actions take place in accordance with democratic principles and contribute to the stability of the country.
These tragic incidents underline the importance of collaboration between the population and the security forces to maintain order and security in the region. Peace and stability are crucial elements for the development of the DRC, and it is essential that everyone plays their part to guarantee a better future.
