Title: Kin Créa Project: A cultural initiative for the development of peripheral municipalities in Kinshasa

In order to fill the lack of cultural structures in the peripheral communes of Kinshasa and to promote the balanced cultural offer, the Tam-tam theater company launched the Kin Créa project. This initiative aims to train young people in the spoken arts and to create cultural centers in areas that lack them. Specialized training for young people from the outlying municipalities of Kinshasa:
The Kin Créa project provides for the training of 70 young people in the arts of storytelling and speech. These young people come from nine communes chosen on the outskirts of the Congolese capital, such as Kimbanseke, N’djili, Masina, Maluku, N’sele, Makala, Selembao, Mont-Ngafula and Kisenso. The objective is to professionalize these young people and create an artistic ecosystem conducive to the holding of quality shows.
A balanced cultural offer for the targeted municipalities:
Currently, cultural activities are mainly concentrated in downtown Kinshasa, leaving outlying communes with few entertainment options. By creating cultural centers and training young artists, comedians, slammers, journalists and administrators, the Kin Créa project aims to bring quality entertainment to these neglected areas. By establishing cultural structures and organizing regular performances, the project hopes to stimulate interest in the arts and strengthen social cohesion within these communities.
The support of the European Union and the sustainability of the project:
The Kin Créa project benefits from the financial support of the European Union, with a provisional budget of $350,000. Part of this amount has already been disbursed for the implementation of the first activities. This contribution underlines the importance given to culture in the partnership between the EU and the DRC, because culture is considered as a means of fostering exchange, dialogue and mutual understanding.
In addition to the training of young people and the creation of cultural centers, the Kin Créa project also provides for the production of 15 shows for the beneficiary municipalities. This initiative aims to perpetuate art in these environments and to offer residents continuous access to quality cultural activities.
