“Historic meeting in Kinshasa: Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi and Bineta Diop join forces for the well-being of Congolese women”

Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi and Bineta Diop meet in Kinshasa to discuss the achievements of the First Lady of the Democratic Republic of Congo in various areas, including health, the fight against sickle cell disease and violence against women. During this meeting, Bineta Diop praised Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi’s commitment to the health of the Congolese, in particular her care for patients suffering from sickle cell anemia, a serious illness which affects many women in the country. Bineta Diop also encouraged the First Lady to replicate her model in other African countries.

In addition, Bineta Diop congratulated the involvement of Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi within the OPDAD (the Organization of First Ladies of Africa for Development), emphasizing the importance of the role of First Ladies in promoting development in Africa. She also called for greater representation of women in political decision-making, recalling the importance of their participation at the negotiating table to ensure lasting peace.

The African Union delegation, led by Bineta Diop, plans to visit Goma as part of its mission to promote women’s rights. This trip will allow us to see the progress made in this area and identify the remaining challenges.
