The cognac house Hennessy has just unveiled its artistic project “In The Paint” in Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This initiative, launched for the first time in 2021 in Montreal, is now present in several countries around the world. Hennessy, known for its commitment to local communities and artists, worked in partnership with Kub’Art Gallery to highlight Congolese artist Eliam Mupipi.
Eliam Mupipi, also known as Eliam Artist, is a multidisciplinary artist passionate about urban cultures. His approach consists of merging different styles of expression to integrate elements of African culture and history into the urban landscape. For the “In The Paint” project, Eliam Mupipi chose to transform the basketball court of the Lemba Cultural Center in Kinshasa into a true work of art.
Her work titled “Kuba Kingdom” is inspired by the ancestral heritage of KUBA fabrics, known for their unique tribal geometric patterns. At the center of the work, we find a leopard, emblem of the Democratic Republic of Congo, symbolizing the strength and power of the country. The colors used recall the wealth of natural resources of the DRC. We also find the famous “armed arm”, emblem of the Hennessy house since its creation in 1765.
The inauguration of this artistic fresco was marked by the presence of numerous basketball amateurs and professionals, as well as by the participation of Joakim Noah, French basketball player and the Congolese artist Innoss’B. Joakim Noah, known for his social and charitable commitment, supports Hennessy’s initiative and will participate in the inauguration of several revitalized fields around the world.
Hennessy, the leader in cognac, has always supported the arts and local communities. This “In The Paint” artistic initiative reflects the brand’s commitment to creativity, local know-how and the promotion of urban cultures.
With this project, Hennessy highlights the talent of Congolese artist Eliam Mupipi and contributes to the revitalization of urban spaces by transforming them into true works of art. This collaboration between Hennessy, Eliam Mupipi and other local artists demonstrates that art can be a powerful way to bring communities together, celebrate cultural richness and create a lasting artistic legacy.
By supporting projects like “In The Paint”, Hennessy continues to leave its mark on the art world and promote creative expression in all its forms. Thanks to its commitment to artists and communities, the brand strengthens its place as a reference in the world of cognac and culture.
