The DRC facing socio-security challenges: Corneille Nangaa sounds the alarm

On the eve of the celebration of the independence of the Democratic Republic of Congo, the president of the party Action for the Dignity of Congo and its People (ADCP), Corneille Nangaa, delivered a not very encouraging report on the socio-security situation from the country. While the DRC should play a leading role in the development of the continent, participatory democracy and the promotion of human rights, it seems on the contrary to be retreating, leaving its vast majority of the population in poverty and deprivation.

According to Nangaa, all rights, even the most basic, have been confiscated, leaving a contented privileged minority and a silent majority plunged into poverty. In terms of security, the country is faced with outsourcing of security management and the presence of foreign armies that compromise national sovereignty. Massacres, killings and armed clashes are regularly reported across the country, testifying to a worrying security situation.

At the same time, the ongoing electoral process is strongly criticized by Nangaa. According to him, it is unreliable and brazen, relying on questionable electoral mapping and voter statistics, as well as a disputed administration. To ensure the credibility, inclusiveness, transparency and fairness of elections, it is essential that relevant actors come together, discuss and tackle security challenges together. Nangaa also calls for a break in the current electoral process in order to evaluate it objectively and consensually.

With this in mind, the ADCP party announces that it will not present any candidacy for the elections in their current format and calls on its members and supporters to remain mobilized while waiting for an inevitable reform of the electoral process.

This analysis of the socio-security situation in the DRC by Corneille Nangaa raises important questions about the future of the country. It is essential to take these concerns into account to enable the socio-economic development of the country and the participation of all citizens in political life. The DRC has the potential to become a major player on the African scene, but this can only be achieved if measures are taken to address security, democracy and human rights issues.
