The IX Games of La Francophonie in 2023: Kinshasa at the heart of the event!

The IX Games of La Francophonie will be held from July 28 to August 6, 2023 in Kinshasa, capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo! This is what a recent article published on the “Fatshimetry” blog tells us. Indeed, the Democratic Republic of Congo will be the organizing country of this great event bringing together young French-speaking people from all over the world. This edition will be marked by the presence of 3,648 athletes and artists who have come to compete in different fields.

During the 123rd session of the Permanent Council of La Francophonie held in Paris, participants discussed the preparations for the event and the challenges that remain to be met in the meantime. Representatives of various member countries of the OIF expressed their support for the Democratic Republic of Congo for maintaining the holding of the games in Kinshasa. However, some have expressed concern about the quality of the accommodation infrastructure, the safety of the athletes and the road network around the homes.

The Congolese authorities reassured the participants and affirmed their desire to guarantee the physical and mental health of the athletes, their safety, as well as their mobility from the accommodation site to the sports and cultural competition sites.

There are therefore a few weeks left for the organizers to complete the accommodation infrastructure and the sports and cultural competitions in the finishing phase. The participants expressed their support and their enthusiasm to support the participation of their teams provided that the reception conditions are guaranteed.

In short, the event is arousing great enthusiasm in the Francophonie, and the Congolese authorities are taking all the necessary measures to guarantee the comfort and safety of the participants. This only reinforces the belief that the DRC is capable of meeting ambitious challenges, which bodes well for the future of Congolese youth.
