Guediawaye Beach, located in the suburbs of Dakar, Senegal, is the place of dreams for many young people in the region. Unfortunately, many of them do not have the means to take full advantage of this idyllic place and to flourish as young people from more affluent backgrounds do. It is with this in mind that the “Summer Guedbeach” association was created, offering young people from the suburbs an unforgettable experience during the holidays.
The Jeunesse Senegal consortium, at the origin of this initiative, aims to fight against several scourges faced by young people in Guédiawaye. Among these challenges, illegal migration and the risks linked to prohibited swimming are particularly worrying. In order to offer a safe and entertaining alternative, the “Summer Guedbeach” holiday camp offers various leisure activities on Malibu beach, secure and supervised by professionals.
The objective of this project is multiple. First of all, it allows young people from Guédiawaye to enjoy a space for relaxation and fun, far from the social and economic pressures that weigh on them on a daily basis. By offering them the opportunity to have fun in a safe environment, the consortium also hopes to prevent the risks of drowning which are unfortunately common on the region’s beaches.
But “Summer Guedbeach” goes even further. More than just a summer camp, it aspires to change the vision that young people have of their own suburbs. By promoting the beauty and potential of Guediawaye, this initiative seeks to strengthen young people’s sense of belonging to their community and to encourage personal and collective development.
In addition to reaching the young people of Guédiawaye, the Jeunesse Sénégal consortium aspires to extend the concept of “Summer Guedbeach” to other localities in the country. By offering young Senegalese the opportunity to discover their own country and flourish during the holidays, this initiative helps to strengthen the bond between the different regions and foster a feeling of national unity.
Beyond the recreational aspect, “Summer Guedbeach” is a real social approach aimed at improving the quality of life of young people in the suburbs of Dakar. By offering accessible and safe leisure activities, this project contributes to combating social exclusion and encouraging equal opportunities for all young Senegalese people.
In conclusion, “Summer Guedbeach” is much more than just a vacation activity. It is a project which aims to offer young people from Guédiawaye and other regions of Senegal an enriching, entertaining and safe experience. By allowing them to enjoy the beauty and resources of their own country, this initiative contributes to their personal development and the strengthening of the social fabric in their community.
