Launch of the 7th edition of the Cities and Economic Corridors Development Fair in Kolwezi

The city of Kolwezi, capital of the Lualaba province in the Democratic Republic of Congo, is preparing to host the 7th edition of the “Expo Béton” exhibition for the development of cities, corridors and special economic zones. Placed under the theme “Kolwezi-Lualaba, Eldorado of the Southern Corridor of the DRC-SADC”, this official ceremony will be held at the beginning of October 2023.

The Cities, Corridors and Special Economic Zones Development Show was established in 1996 as part of the Special Development Initiatives Program (PIDS), initiated by the South African Departments of Transport and the Department of Trade and Commerce. Industry. Its objective is to promote the economic development of the member countries of the Southern Corridor of the DRC-SADC, in particular by strengthening the sectors of urban planning, infrastructure, energy, housing, logistics and SMEs. , commerce, multimodal transport and industry.

The Kolwezi edition, which comes following the third edition of the Concrete Expo, will more specifically address the issue of the development corridor. Participants, including customary authorities, construction professionals, military engineering corps, researchers and real estate developers, will reflect on ways to transform the Southern Corridor into an area profitable for all. The establishment of a multimodal structure and a regional development corridor will be at the heart of the debates.

This 7th edition also aims to facilitate the reliability of the development corridor which extends across member countries. High-level sessions with experts from the construction sector, open days, networking sessions and a sponsor dinner are planned.

The Exhibition for the Development of Cities, Corridors and Special Economic Zones “Expo Béton” constitutes a unique opportunity for economic players in the region to exchange and share their experiences and knowledge in terms of urban and economic development.
