The Kulunas: the growing threat of urban banditry in Kinshasa

For several weeks, the commune of Selembao, and more precisely the Lubudi district, has been the scene of an upsurge in urban banditry perpetrated by the Kulunas. These young delinquents are sowing terror among the population, and the situation is becoming increasingly worrying despite the efforts of the police.

According to testimonies from certain residents collected by MediaCongo, it is urgent that the police authorities intervene in this area and take stock of the alarming security situation. Faced with the growing power of the Kulunas, the population lives in constant fear and fears for their safety.

A resident of the Lubudi district recounts an evening marked by the sudden arrival of the Kulunas, forcing people to flee for protection. The fear of seeing one’s property taken away and of being attacked by these young delinquents is omnipresent.
