During the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the First Lady of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi, met with the United Nations Under-Secretary in charge of conflict-related sexual violence, Pramilla Patten, in the aim of strengthening international cooperation to fight this scourge. FONAREV’s work in the DRC:
FONAREV, led by Lucien Lundula Lolatui, has implemented several actions to support victims of sexual violence in the DRC. Among these, the commemoration of Genocost on August 2 made it possible to raise awareness and mobilize public opinion around this issue. In addition, roaming was carried out in five provinces of the DRC, allowing FONAREV to establish direct contact with the victims and to engage with other committed personalities such as Doctor Denis Mukwege, Nobel Peace Prize winner. .
