The Makutano Business Forum 2023: a major event to boost intra-African trade
The Makutano Business Forum, the leading business network in Central Africa, is organizing its 9th edition on September 20 and 21, 2023 in Abidjan. This major event will bring together more than 150 personalities, including heads of government, public decision-makers, private sector leaders and leaders of civil society. The main objective of this meeting is to unlock the untapped trade potential in Africa, estimated at 22 billion US dollars.
For a decade, the Makutano Business Forum has promoted dialogue between private and public decision-makers. This network actively works for the advent of a prosperous and inclusive Africa. According to Nicole Sulu, founder of Makutano, greater collaboration between all stakeholders and true continental integration are necessary to foster intra-African trade.
Better regional integration would increase African income by 9% by 2035, or $571 billion, and create 18 million new jobs. This would strengthen Africa’s private sector, create more competitive markets and accelerate economic diversification. In addition, this wealth creation would help lift 50 million people out of extreme poverty, thus contributing to inclusive growth.
