Photos of war victims in North Kivu province
At the BDGL roundabout in Goma, poignant photos expose faces torn by war and atrocities committed in North Kivu province. This exhibition, which began on July 31, is part of the first commemoration of the National Day of Tribute to the Victims of the Genocide of Economic Gains (GENOCOST).
The aim of this initiative is to remind the public of the suffering endured by residents of the region and to demand justice for the victims. Thus, a ceremony paying tribute to the victims was organized on August 2, in the presence of the military governor of North Kivu, Constant Ndima, and survivors of the horrors of the war which has raged in the region since August 2, 1998.
Liberata Buratwa, a war victim, expressed the need for justice and compensation for victims. She also stressed the importance of supporting the families of the victims, particularly children who have lost their parents and their right to education. For these victims, the priority is to find peace in their region and put an end to the armed conflicts that forced them to leave their homes.
This photo exhibition is a powerful means of raising awareness and remembering the suffering experienced by victims of the war in North Kivu. It also highlights the need to prosecute those responsible for these atrocities and ensure that justice is done.
By bringing together survivors, authorities and the population, these tributes to the victims are an important step towards recognizing and commemorating the suffering suffered. They also help raise public awareness of the reality of war and promote peace and justice for affected regions.
It is crucial to give a voice to war victims and support their legitimate demands for justice, compensation and reconstruction. Hopefully this exhibition and the tributes paid will help advance efforts to end armed conflicts and guarantee a peaceful future for the province of North Kivu.
