News: The rapprochement between Brazzaville and Kigali provokes reactions in the DRC

In a press briefing held recently, the spokesperson for the Congolese government, Patrick Muyaya, spoke about the rapprochement between the cities of Brazzaville and Kigali. This rapprochement has caused a lot of ink to be spilled and sparked strong reactions among the Congolese population.

Patrick Muyaya wanted to emphasize that each country is sovereign and free to choose its diplomatic strategy. He also called for respecting the opinion of the Congolese who express themselves legitimately on the general situation of the country and the sub-region.

The government spokesperson recalled that the Democratic Republic of Congo is the largest country in the region with nine neighboring countries, and that these countries depend on its geographical position. He stressed that the reconstruction of the diplomatic apparatus and the revival of the armed forces will allow the country to have influence in all areas, including military.

The rapprochement between Brazzaville and Kigali has sparked negative reactions, particularly on social networks, where some Internet users have criticized President Denis Sassou Nguesso for his rapprochement with Rwanda, which is in conflict with the DRC.

At the same time, Patrick Muyaya also discussed the holding of the 9th Francophonie Games, which demonstrates the return of the DRC to the international scene and its leadership on climate issues.

It is important to note that the briefing was moderated by Patrick Muyaya as well as his colleague from Culture and Arts, Catherine Kathungu Furaha, and the Director of the National Committee for the Francophonie Games, Isidore Kwandja.

This press briefing allows us to better understand the position of the Congolese government on the rapprochement between Brazzaville and Kigali. It highlights the sovereignty of countries and underlines the importance for the DRC to rebuild its diplomatic apparatus and strengthen its armed forces to play a major role in the region.
