“Martin Fayulu denounces the conviction of Jean-Marc Kabund: injustice and threat to truth and justice in the DRC”

The latest news was marked by the sentencing of national deputy Jean-Marc Kabund to 7 years in prison. This decision sparked strong reactions from the 2018 presidential candidate and coordinator of the Lamuka opposition platform, Martin Fayulu Madidi.

In a message published on social networks, Martin Fayulu castigated the severity of the sentence imposed on Jean-Marc Kabund, calling it unfair and contrary to the truth. For him, this conviction reveals the vindictive nature of the regime in place and endangers truth and justice.

Martin Fayulu also believes that Jean-Marc Kabund’s place is not in prison. He condemns the fact that the revelations made by the former first vice-president of the National Assembly during his trial are ignored and drowned in impunity. According to him, it is essential to shed light on these revelations and ensure that justice is done in a fair manner.

This conviction of Jean-Marc Kabund comes in a context where the political situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo is highly tense. Opposition actors, including Martin Fayulu, regularly denounce human rights violations and failures to democracy in the country.

It is important to note that the public prosecutor had requested a three-year prison sentence against Jean-Marc Kabund during the hearing. The final decision of the Court of Cassation, handing down a sentence of 7 years, was therefore considered excessive by Martin Fayulu and other political opponents.

This affair highlights the democratic issues facing the Democratic Republic of Congo and the tensions between the different political actors. It is essential to closely monitor developments in the country and continue to support the voices raised in favor of truth, justice and democracy.
