Butembo: Observance of the curfew to ensure the safety of the city in the face of a wave of violence

Butembo reminds its citizens to respect the curfew to ensure the safety of the city

Butembo, a city in the province of North Kivu, has been plagued by a wave of violence since May 2023, resulting in deaths and injuries. The city’s mayor, Chief Senior Commissioner Mowa Baeki Telly Roger, recalled in an official statement signed last Tuesday the importance of respecting the curfew from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. local time for the security of the city.

He believes that the vigilance of the population and the denunciation of any form of insecurity is essential to fight against this wave of violence which has broken out recently. He thus asks the entire population of Butembo to scrupulously respect the directives of the curfew, in force since last month, without specifying the duration of its application.

The city, despite the security actions taken by the authorities, continues to be the scene of violence that endangers the lives of citizens. It is therefore imperative for the inhabitants of the city to follow the instructions for their own safety.

We hope that this situation will quickly find a favorable outcome, to preserve the safety and well-being of the inhabitants of Butembo.
