The new N’djili airport in Kinshasa in the DRC: an ambitious $1.2 billion project to improve the country’s air connectivity

The project to build the new N’djili airport in Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) raises great expectations. Milvest, a subsidiary of Miller Holding, has committed to investing US$1.2 billion in this ambitious project. The announcement was made by Turhan Mildon, CEO of Milvest, during a press conference in Kinshasa.

Discussions between Milvest and the authorities in charge of managing N’djili international airport are underway in order to finalize the details before the start of work. Turhan Mildon hopes that negotiations will move forward quickly to kick off this huge undertaking in the air transport sector.

Once completed, the new N’djili airport will be one of the most modern and attractive in Africa, according to Turhan Mildon. The project will be carried out according to the “Build–operate–transfer” (BOT) public-private partnership model, with a concession contract duration of 29 years for Milvest.

BOT is a project delivery method typically used for large-scale infrastructure projects. It allows a private entity to obtain a public sector concession to finance, design, construct, own and operate a specific facility. This allows the project developer to recoup their investment over time.

Milvest’s vision is to be a leader in each sector in which it invests, thus contributing to the development of the DRC by carrying out modern infrastructure and investments useful for the modernization of the country. In addition to its commitment to the construction of the new N’djili airport, Milvest is also planning other projects in the DRC, such as the construction of the ARENA complex and the modernization of the Kinshasa International Fair (FIKIN).

The project to build the new N’djili airport in Kinshasa is therefore a major step in the development of the aviation sector in the DRC. It will improve the country’s air connectivity and strengthen its regional economic positioning.
