Traffic accident in Lubudi (Lualaba): Preventive measures to avoid such tragedies
Sad news shook the region of Lubudi in the province of Lualaba. A traffic accident on the national number 1 (RN1) claimed the lives of fourteen people last weekend. Faced with this tragedy, the provincial government decided to take drastic measures to avoid the repetition of such events.
The provincial transport minister of Lualaba, Pithou Nday, announced the implementation of an action plan aimed at preserving human lives on the roads. Among these measures, it is question of limiting the hours of circulation of the trucks, in order to avoid the accidents related to the tiredness of the drivers. In addition, it will be prohibited to transport people and goods in the same vehicle, a dangerous practice commonly observed in the region.
The provincial government has also pledged to increase the rotation of trains operated by the Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer du Congo (SNCC). This initiative aims to offer a safer alternative transport to the populations, by limiting the use of roads, which are often dilapidated and unsafe.
The governor of Lualaba, Fifi Masuka Saini, took the decision to send a delegation to the scene to monitor the care of the injured and provide support to the families of the victims. The burial of the fourteen victims is scheduled for this Thursday, September 7, with the participation of the provincial authorities.
This tragic accident highlights the persistent road safety challenges in the region. To avoid new disasters, it is essential that the measures announced by the government are strictly applied by carriers and that the population adopts responsible behavior on the roads.
The prevention of traffic accidents is a major issue that requires concerted action by all the players concerned. By raising awareness of the risks and strengthening safety measures, it is possible to considerably reduce the number of victims on the roads of Lubudi and the province of Lualaba.
In the interests of transparency and accountability, it is essential to continue to closely monitor the provincial government’s efforts to improve road safety. By working together, we can hope for a significant reduction in traffic accidents and thus preserve the lives of our fellow citizens.
