African Football League: schedule and date of group stage draw revealed
The very first edition of the African Football League (AFL) is getting closer and closer and the eight participating teams now know the key dates of the competition. The group stage draw will take place on September 2, 2023, in Cairo, Egypt. This long-awaited event will be broadcast live on the AFL website as well as on CAF partner channels.
The competition schedule has been established with a system of home and away matches. It will all start with the knockout quarter-finals, followed by the semi-finals and finally the grand final.
The competition will begin on October 20, 2023 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania with the opening ceremony and the first match. The semi-finals will take place between October 29 and November 1. As for the final, it will be played in two matches, on November 5 and 11, 2023.
This first edition of the AFL is a prelude to the full competition which will bring together the 24 best African clubs during the 2024/2025 football season.
