Cedric Bakambu’s dream of playing in the UEFA Champions League will soon come true. The Congolese striker was able to savor the qualification of his team, Galatasaray, during the play-off of the competition. With a 2-1 win over Modle, the Turks qualified for the Champions League group stage.
The match was marked by a penalty converted by Mauro Icardi from the 7th minute. Galatasaray managed to preserve their advantage throughout the encounter to win. Cédric Bakambu had the opportunity to walk on the pitch for the last 12 minutes of the match, and he expressed his joy on social networks.
In another barrage of the evening, Meschack Elia also shone. The Young Boys of Bern won 3-0 against Maccabi Haifa, confirming their victory in the first leg (4-1). Elia provided two assists in this game, helping his team qualify for the Champions League group stage.
Now Bakambu and Elia are eagerly awaiting the draw which will take place on Thursday 31 August. This is when they will discover the opponents who will stand in their way during the competition.
