OHADA institution representation in the DRC: a step towards the harmonization of business law in Africa
The Congolese Prime Minister, Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde, underlined the importance of the installation of one of the institutions of the Organization for the Harmonization in Africa of Business Law (OHADA) in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) . During the 55th session of the Council of Ministers of OHADA, which was held in Kinshasa, he expressed his unwavering support for this organization and recalled his government’s commitment to the harmonization of business law in Africa.
OHADA, which is celebrating its three decades of existence this year, aims to facilitate trade and investment by guaranteeing the legal and judicial security of business activities. By promoting a transparent and fair legal framework, the organization helps support regional integration and economic prosperity in Africa.
The presence of the Ministers of Justice of the member countries of OHADA during this session testifies to the interest that the States attach to the harmonization of business law. The Prime Minister stressed that despite the challenges facing the DRC, including Rwanda’s aggression in the east of the country, the government remains committed to promoting a legal environment conducive to business development.
The choice of the DRC as host country for this session illustrates President Tshisekedi’s vision of positioning the country as a major player in the field of business law in Africa. The objective is to create an environment conducive to investment and to contribute to the creation of a large integrated market in Africa.
