Analysis of the situation: Since Sunday August 20, 2023, tensions have increased between the villages of Nyatsa and Adroval. This land dispute, which seems to be at the origin of the clashes, has resulted in many victims. According to information provided by the army of Ituri province, the Zaire Mazembe militia was involved in the violence, causing the death of seven people, including five innocent civilians and two policemen.
Reaction of the authorities: Faced with this escalation of violence, Lieutenant-General Luboya N’kashama, military governor of Ituri, called for calm and a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
