43 days after his assassination, the widow, family representatives and lawyers of Chérubin Okende are demanding justice and requesting the organization of the funeral of the former Minister of Transport and Communication Channels of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Despite the autopsy carried out 15 days ago, no progress was noted in the investigation. The collective of lawyers accuses the prosecution of deliberately delaying the process, thus leaving the assassins unpunished. Back on this case which continues to arouse indignation.
The tragic murder of Chérubin Okende:
National deputy Chérubin Okende was found dead in his car, riddled with bullets, on July 13, 2023 in Kinshasa. His disappearance marked an immense loss for the DRC, because Chérubin Okende was a respected politician, exercising important responsibilities within the government. His assassination shocked the entire country and raised many questions about the circumstances of his death.
Autopsy and pending investigations:
On Thursday August 3, 2023, a team of Congolese, Belgian, South African experts and the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the DRC (MONUSCO) carried out the autopsy of the body of Chérubin Okende. However, despite this autopsy and the technical support of MONUSCO, the results and progress of the investigation are still awaited. The group of family lawyers expresses its deep concern at the slowness of the process and accuses the prosecution of playing the game of assassins.
The request for justice and organization of the funeral:
Faced with this delay in the investigation, the widow, the representatives of the family and the lawyers of Chérubin Okende decided to seek justice to do justice to their late loved one. They also demanded the organization of the funeral, wishing to be able to pay a last respect to Chérubin Okende with dignity.
