“Strengthening cooperation between the DRC and Italy in industry: Promising projects for economic development and youth entrepreneurship”

Strengthening cooperation between the DRC and Italy in the field of industry – Italian ambassador and FPI director discuss new projects

The Italian Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Alberto Petrangeli, met with the Director of the Industry Promotion Fund (FPI), Bertin Mudimu Tshisekedi, to strengthen cooperation between the DRC and Italy. The objective of this meeting was to discuss the FPI’s support to Italy in its mission to create new businesses in the DRC.

The Italian ambassador expressed his satisfaction with the willingness of the Congolese government to support the FPI in its efforts to promote business creation in the DRC. He also mentioned the reactivation of the assembly project for modular transformation units in collaboration with the expertise of Self Globe.

Many projects are underway in various fields such as agricultural training, support for small and medium-sized enterprises, processing of primary agricultural products and the field of energy. These projects aim to contribute to the economic development of the DRC.

For his part, Bertin Mudimu reaffirmed the FPI’s desire to continue its collaboration with the Italian Embassy. He underlined the importance of this cooperation for the development of the DRC and praised the history of collaboration between the two countries.

One of the ongoing projects concerns the training of trainers for small and medium-sized enterprises. In partnership with the Italian company Self Globe, the FPI supported the training of nine young people in agro-processing in Italy. These young people will then have to constitute a processing pool in the province of Haut-Katanga and become the trainers of others.

The Congolese Ministry of Industry aims to train a total of 60 trainers-entrepreneurs in the field of agro-industry. These trainer-entrepreneurs will then be able to benefit from an FPI financing program for the realization of their projects.

This strengthening of local expertise in the field of agro-industry will contribute not only to the economic development of the DRC but also to the creation of jobs and the promotion of youth entrepreneurship.

In conclusion, cooperation between the DRC and Italy in the field of industry is being strengthened thanks to the support of the FPI. The many ongoing projects, particularly in the field of agricultural training and small and medium-sized enterprises, will help stimulate the economic development of the DRC and create new opportunities for young entrepreneurs
