“Kinshasa drowning drama: A preventable tragedy that raises questions about the safety of bathing places”

Drowning tragedies are unfortunately common, and recently the N’djili River in Kinshasa was the scene of a tragedy. A 19-year-old boy, Kambola Mbanza Christian, lost his life by drowning. The exact circumstances of this incident remain unclear, because the witnesses, the friends of the victim, are not available to give their version of the facts.

According to Kambola Christian’s family members, he had gone swimming in the river with his friends, but never returned home in the evening. Her mother, after gathering information, went to the scene and found her shoes and clothes by the river. Later, the body of the young man was found and transported to the morgue of the Sino-Congolese hospital in Ndjili.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time that the N’djili River has been the scene of such a tragedy. In March 2021, another 19-year-old boy, Dezy Mbala, also lost his life by drowning in the same river. These tragedies raise questions about the safety of bathing places and awareness of the risk of drowning.

Drowning is a worldwide problem that affects many families every year. It is important to remember the safety measures to be taken when swimming, in particular supervising children, knowing the safe bathing areas and mastering rescue techniques. Awareness of the risk of drowning must be reinforced to avoid such tragedies in the future.

In conclusion, drowning is a danger that threatens the lives of many people, and it is essential to take adequate safety measures when swimming
