The recent publication of the results of the legislative elections in the constituencies of Masi-manimba and Yakoma has once again highlighted the political dynamics underway in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Under the presidency of Denis Kadima Kazadi, the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) unveiled the provisional results at the Bosolo electoral center in Kinshasa on December 18, 2024.

Unsurprisingly, the political alliance of the Union Sacrée de la Nation, led by President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi, won these elections hands down, confirming its growing popularity since the previous elections in December 2023. In the Yakoma constituency, Mbui Kaya Nyi Mbui Guido of the Alliance of Parties Allied to the Congolese Liberation Movement (APA/MLC) won with 20,263 votes, closely followed by Nzangi Ngelengbi Antoine of the Coalition of Democrats (CODE) with 18,774 votes.

On the Masi-manimba side, five national deputies were provisionally elected. Didier Mazenga Mukanzu of the Action of the Allies of the Convention and the Unified Lumumbist Party (AAC/Palu) came in first with 13,833 votes, followed by Kamisendu Kutuka Jean of the Action of the Allies Acquired to Democracy (AAAD) with 13,324 votes. Among the other elected officials, Kin-Kiey Mulumba Tryphon of the Alliance of Actors Attached to the People (AAAP) obtained 10,600 votes, while Sindani Kandambu Donald of the Alternative Action of Actors for the Love of Congo (4AC) collected 8,808 votes. Finally, Luwansangu Muheta Paul Delacroix of the Union for Democracy and Social Progress (UDPS/Tshisekedi) closed the ranking with 7,657 votes.

The provincial election results also confirmed the trend in favour of the Union Sacrée de la Nation. In the Masi-manimba constituency, Malutama Blanchard of AAC/PALU was elected with 8,882 votes, followed by Sindani Kandambu Donald of 4AC with 7,028 votes. Kihosa Manenga Kiboba Urbain of AACPG, Kin-Kiey Mulumba Tryphon of AAAP, and Lupemba Mboma Félicien of AADD also won seats, confirming the coalition’s dominance at the provincial level. In Yakoma, the results also favored the allies of the Union Sacrée de la Nation, with elected officials such as Koyibe Koyaabake Maximilien of the Alliance of Elites in the Service of the People & Allies (AESPA), Yindo Mongbongi Pauline of the Party of Congolese Resistant Patriots/Parti du Peuple (PARECO/PAP), and Thalo Konzalimbi Roger of the Congolese Liberation Movement.

These results consolidate the position of the Union Sacrée de la Nation at both the national and provincial levels, marking an important step in the Congolese political landscape. The newly elected officials will have a crucial role to play within the provincial and national assemblies, thus contributing to the democratic balance of the country.

In conclusion, the publication of the provisional results of the legislative elections in the constituencies of Masi-manimba and Yakoma once again highlights the predominance of the Sacred Union of the Nation on the Congolese political scene. These elections mark a further step towards the consolidation of democracy and the representation of the different political tendencies within the country’s institutions.
