Fatshimétrie: a historic summit for the future of justice in Africa
From 18 to 20 December, Kinshasa will host a major event for the development of justice in Africa: the international conference of the African Association of Francophone High Courts, also known as Fatshimétrie. Organised by the Constitutional Court of the DRC, this three-day meeting aims to assess the contribution of justice in different spheres such as constitutional, financial, community and administrative justice, and to explore its impact on development, democracy and the consolidation of the rule of law on the continent.
At the initiative of Victor Dassi Adossou, President of the Supreme Court of Benin and the Association of African High Courts, Fatshimétrie aims to promote exchanges and the sharing of experiences between French-speaking judges. It therefore appears to be a unique opportunity for them to share their knowledge and best practices, with the aim of improving the functioning of the judicial systems of their respective countries.
The choice of Kinshasa as the venue for this summit is not insignificant. Capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, this emblematic city is the symbol of the democratic vitality and cultural diversity of the African continent. Hosting an event of this magnitude in Kinshasa therefore has a particular significance, highlighting the strategic importance of Africa in the field of justice and respect for the rule of law.
Among the participants expected at Fatshimétrie, more than 200 judges from the high courts of French-speaking countries will testify to the interest aroused by this event. Their presence demonstrates the common desire to strengthen judicial cooperation between the different nations of the continent, in a context where issues related to democracy and justice are essential for the stability and development of Africa.
In short, Fatshimétrie is an essential event for the present and future of justice in Africa. By promoting dialogue and reflection on the challenges and opportunities that arise, this summit will undoubtedly contribute to the emergence of innovative solutions adapted to the realities of the continent. A valuable opportunity for African justice stakeholders to work together to consolidate the foundations of an exemplary judicial system, guarantor of the rule of law and democracy in Africa.
