The Democratic Republic of Congo recently hosted an event of crucial importance for the future of the country: the international conference on the fight against corruption. Held in Kinshasa, this strategic meeting brought together financial inspectors from different African countries. President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi was at the heart of this event, reiterating his firm commitment to combating this scourge that undermines institutions and compromises the country’s development.

In a strong and determined speech, the Head of State stressed the importance of establishing a stronger legal and institutional environment to effectively combat corruption. He urged participants, including inspectors from the DRC, to redouble their efforts and rigor in this essential battle for the future of the country.

Corruption was described by President Tshisekedi as a moral and social perversion, a scourge that affects not only public institutions but also citizens’ trust in their government. This determination to eradicate corruption and restore the integrity of institutions has been repeatedly underlined by the Head of State, who has made this fight a national priority.

President Félix Tshisekedi stressed that in a country as rich as the Democratic Republic of Congo, corruption is a cruel obstacle to development. It hinders constructive investments, weakens public services, fuels injustice and widens inequalities. Faced with this major challenge, he praised the work of the inspectors general of finance and encouraged them to persevere in their efforts to promote moral probity within the administration.

In parallel with this fight against corruption, President Tshisekedi launched the Estates General of the Portfolio, aimed at transforming public enterprises into engines of prosperity for the country. By calling for exemplary governance and bold reforms, the Head of State has displayed a clear ambition: to make companies in the State portfolio key players in national development, generating revenue, creating jobs and contributing to the well-being of all Congolese.

Ultimately, the international conference on the fight against corruption and the Estates General of the Portfolio represent essential steps in President Tshisekedi’s desire to build a more just, honest and prosperous Democratic Republic of Congo. These initiatives mark a turning point in the country’s policy of good governance and economic development, paving the way for a more promising future for all its citizens.
