The capacity building workshop for provincial deputies of Tshopo on monitoring and controlling budget execution processes, organized by the GGA project with the support of USAID, recently attracted the attention of political observers and civil society actors. Indeed, this event highlighted the crucial importance of controlling public expenditure to ensure transparent and efficient management of the province’s financial resources.
During this three-day seminar, the deputies had the opportunity to deepen their knowledge on the mechanisms for monitoring and controlling budget processes, focusing in particular on public expenditure, markets and priority expenditure. The intervention of Professor Bibiche Liane Salumu of the University of Kisangani was particularly appreciated for its clarity and relevance.
The training covered various essential aspects such as the missions and responsibilities of the deliberative body in relation to the provincial executive, the stages of the budget process, financial document analysis techniques and the monitoring of public investments. These elements are crucial to ensure sound and transparent financial governance, thus promoting the sustainable development of the province.
Beyond the technical aspect, this workshop also highlighted the importance of transparency, accountability and the availability of local resources to promote balanced and inclusive development. By strengthening the capacities of deputies to exercise effective control over budget execution, this project aims to improve the quality of public resource management and promote more responsible and efficient governance.
In conclusion, this workshop marks a significant step in strengthening democratic institutions and promoting transparent and efficient financial management at the provincial level. It illustrates the commitment of local actors to work for harmonious and sustainable development of Tshopo, with an emphasis on good governance and accountability in the management of public funds.
