Congo is the scene of an intense political battle over the revision of the Constitution. The collective "Sursaut National" is organizing a meeting on December 14 to denounce President Félix Tshisekedi
Congo is currently the scene of an intense and controversial political battle, marked by heated debates around the revision of the Constitution. At the heart of this turmoil is the collective “Sursaut National”, composed of personalities from the opposition, civil society and citizen movements determined to make their voices heard.

This collective, led by figures such as Delly Sesanga, Ados Ndombasi and Alain Bolodjwa, recently confirmed the holding of a meeting on December 14, 2024 at the municipal field of Masina, in Tshangu. This gathering aims to firmly denounce the project to modify the Constitution announced by President Félix Tshisekedi. According to the members of the “Sursaut National”, this project constitutes a desperate attempt by the regime in power to maintain itself in power by circumventing established democratic rules.

The leaders of the collective strongly denounce the maneuvers of the current government to impose a constitutional change that would serve the interests of a few to the detriment of the Congolese people. They recall that the Constitution is the foundation on which democracy and the fundamental principles of a state of law are based, and that it cannot be modified unilaterally to satisfy personal ambitions.

Faced with this situation, the “Sursaut National” calls on the population of Kinshasa to mobilize massively to express their categorical refusal to see the Constitution flouted and democratic principles violated. Threats, intimidation and maneuvers aimed at stifling the voice of the opposition only strengthen the determination of the members of the collective to defend democratic values and ensure compliance with established rules.

In this context of political tension, marked by deep divisions within the Congolese socio-political class, it is essential that the debate remains open, transparent and respectful of the will of the people. Congolese citizens must be able to express themselves freely and actively participate in building a democratic and inclusive society, where everyone finds their place and where collective interests take precedence over individual interests.

The meeting of December 14 is therefore of capital importance in the Congolese political landscape, as a symbol of citizen resistance to any attempt to pervert democratic principles. The message of the “National Surge” is clear: the Congolese people refuse to be held hostage by political calculations and demand respect for the Constitution and democratic rules established for the good of all.

In this crucial period for the future of Congo, it is essential that everyone mobilizes, that everyone makes their voice heard and that everyone commits to a true democracy, based on respect for the fundamental principles and rights of all citizens. The path to a better future for the Congo involves defending these essential values which form the basis of a free and fair society for all.
