The city of Kinshasa, capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, is preparing to host an event of crucial importance for the fight against corruption in Africa. Indeed, in a few hours, the Commemorative Conference of the International Anti-Corruption Day will open, organized by the General Inspectorate of Finance (IGF) in collaboration with the Forum of State Inspectorates and Assimilated Control Institutions of Africa.
Already, delegations from member countries are flocking to the Congolese capital for this major event. Among the first to arrive, Hassan Issa Sultan, State Inspector General of the Republic of Djibouti and Executive Secretary of the Forum of State Inspectorates and Assimilated Institutions of Africa (FIGE), was warmly welcomed by Jules Alingete Key, Head of Department at the General Inspectorate of Finance of the DRC.
This important meeting, held under the high patronage of the President of the Republic Félix Tshisekedi, will address the essential theme of “Mobilizing African youth in the fight against corruption for a better tomorrow”. A commendable initiative that aims to raise awareness and involve African youth in the fight against corruption, with a view to a brighter future for the continent.
The Democratic Republic of Congo was recently appointed Vice-President of the International Forum of State Inspectorates and Similar Control Institutions of Africa (FIGE), a recognition of its efforts in the fight against corruption. It will also have the honor of hosting the General Assembly of this pan-African organization in 2026, thus demonstrating its commitment to transparency and good governance.
The work of the Forum of General State Inspectorates of Africa and Assimilated Institutions aims to develop the professions of the General State Inspectorate, investigation, audit, and evaluation of public policies, as well as the implementation of professional standards adapted to current issues. These meetings serve as a platform to share experiences in the detection and prevention of corruption, with the aim of strengthening the effectiveness of control institutions.
In short, this conference represents a unique opportunity for actors in the fight against corruption in Africa to come together, exchange ideas and propose innovative solutions to combat this scourge that hinders the socio-economic development of the continent. It also demonstrates the commitment of African countries to work together for more transparent and responsible governance.
