Egypt-China Agricultural Partnership: An Alliance for the Future of Agriculture

The agricultural partnership between Egypt and China, initiated in 2014, is taking on a new dimension in 2024 with the plan to make this year the “Year of Egypt-China Partnership”. The Chinese company New Hope, specialized in agriculture and animal feed, has been investing in Egypt since 2011. Recent discussions between Egyptian leaders and New Hope highlight the modernization of Egyptian agriculture, food security and sustainable development. This promising cooperation paves the way for a prosperous future for both countries.
Announced during the meeting between the leaders of the Chinese company New Hope and Egyptian ministers, a new agricultural partnership between Egypt and China was highlighted. This collaboration demonstrates the strong and lasting relations between the two countries, supported by the efforts of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Chinese President Xi Jinping since 2014.

In this year 2024, which marks the tenth anniversary of this cooperation initiated in 2014, it is planned to make 2024 the “Year of Egyptian-Chinese Partnership”. This ambitious initiative aims to strengthen bilateral trade and investment, particularly in the modern agriculture sector.

At the heart of this dynamic, the Chinese company New Hope, a major player in agriculture and animal feed, has expressed its interest in developing its investments in Egypt. Since its establishment in 2011 with five factories in different regions of the country, New Hope has been involved in animal feed production, local job creation and promoting more sustainable agriculture.

During the meeting, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly stressed the importance of diversifying Chinese investments in Egypt, with a focus on the opportunities offered by the agricultural sector. The vision shared by the Egyptian ministers and New Hope representatives is that of a mutually beneficial cooperation, focused on modernizing Egyptian agriculture and ensuring food security.

The discussions between the parties focused on ways to increase New Hope’s investments in Egypt, particularly in agricultural production, animal feed and innovative solutions to meet the challenges of 21st century agriculture.
