The Lobito Corridor: A Pathway to Regional Integration and Economic Development
The Lobito Corridor is much more than just a transport infrastructure. According to the Congolese President, to unleash the full potential of the Lobito Corridor, peace and security in the region remain essential imperatives. He welcomed Angola’s efforts towards peace, while reaffirming its commitment to work for a definitive return to stability in the eastern DRC.
The meeting, which took place in Lobito in the presence of several heads of state, highlighted the strategic importance of this corridor, aiming to connect the Atlantic Ocean to the Indian Ocean through the DRC. The economic repercussions of this infrastructure are considerable, particularly with regard to the transport of raw materials such as copper and cobalt, true pillars of the local economy.
Tshisekedi’s speech at this meeting highlighted the importance of regional and international cooperation for the harmonious development of the region.
