A capacity-building workshop for French-speaking states on the Maputo Protocol was recently held in Bouaké, Côte d’Ivoire. Organized by the Centre for Human Rights at the University of Pretoria, this event aimed to strengthen the implementation of this important legal instrument for the promotion of women’s rights in Africa.
The delegation of the Democratic Republic of Congo, represented by Ms. Jeanne Alasha, Advisor to the Military Governor of Ituri in charge of Gender, Family, Children and Humanitarian Actions, took part in this workshop. Upon her return to Bunia, she shared her impressions of the discussions and fruitful exchanges that took place during this event. These meetings provide a valuable opportunity for the various stakeholders to strengthen their commitment to the promotion of women’s rights in Africa.
In addition, during the last Amani festival in Goma, UNFPA offered free health services. Mr. Charles Bwale, representative of the United Nations Population Fund, stressed the importance of this initiative for access to health care for all, especially for the most vulnerable populations.
These actions demonstrate the commitment of the various stakeholders to work together to promote gender equality and access to health services for all. By strengthening the implementation of the Maputo Protocol and providing free health services, French-speaking States and international organizations are contributing to building a more inclusive and equitable future for all citizens.
The importance of these initiatives lies in their ability to bring about concrete and positive changes in the lives of people, especially women and the most vulnerable populations. By working together and sharing their knowledge and experiences, the actors involved in these actions contribute to strengthening human rights and promoting the well-being of all.
In conclusion, it is essential to highlight the positive impact of these initiatives on society as a whole. By strengthening the implementation of the Maputo Protocol and providing free health services, French-speaking States and international organizations are paving the way for a more just, equal and inclusive future for all. These actions lay the foundations for a more just and united society, where everyone can fully exercise their rights and live in dignity.
